Cheruvally Kudumbam, thiruvalla is one of the earliest and foremost Nair tharavads in Thiruvalla (Mallikavanam) in the Indian state of Kerala. It has a history of a 32-kettu tharavad, the only one of its kind in the place. The Nair family had a kalari and a sarpa kavu. Members of this family are know to be so affluent in the past that poor Brahmins were employed as cooks in their tharavad. A member of the family even became the "Diwan Peshkar" of the erst while Travancore state. The great karanavar (head) is said to have buried a treasure in the family compound, the location of which is still unknown. Sreevallabha Temple, the temple of the residing deity of Thiruvalla is one of the oldest among the 108 Vaishnava Tirupathi's in India, develops a thought in us. Did the British rule actually take away all the cultural delicacies of the martially superior Malayali Nairs,who are thought to be the descendants of the Nagas, worshiping the snake God in their tharavad and who had to change themselves totally in and out, out of fear of Lord Parasurama.[ == See also ==
